The past

Although formed in New York in 1992, Cobbler NYC has its history going way back to 1963, when Boris Chulpayev and his brothers started their own cobbling and shoemaking business in Uzbekistan. Through hard work, skill and talent, the company grew and prospered, and in 30 years has become a factory/cobblery employing 400, and a top shoe-product supplier in whole Central Asia. It was to Uzbekistan what Armani was to Armenia, or Prada to Italy.

The present

But being a large company is not necessary a good thing, and after 55 successful years in the competitive business, Boris prefers now to focus on quality rather than quantity, and give Cobbler NYC customers the kind of personal attention and individual treatment that large companies are rarely known for. The friendly and cozy family atmosphere of the company, combined with superior crafstmanship of hand-picked masters provides a smooth operation and a perfect environment for bringing together tested by centuries Bukharian cobbling traditions and modern Western technologies.
